Safety Vision, LLC announces the assignment of US Patent No. 8,588,041 B1 for the technology behind SafeStor™, the digital storage device that supports Safety Vision’s RoadRecorder family of mobile video recorders for mass transit and pupil transportation.
Safety Vision has exclusive rights to the proprietary technology. The patent for invention number 8,588,041 B1 is for a method of storing digital data in a moving vehicle that includes providing first and second digital data storage devices in a vehicle’s recorder. The technology is designed to deal with the harsh vibration and shock of mobile environments while addressing the poor reliability of single media storage solutions common to traditional mobile recorders.
SafeStor ensures that all real-time recording while the vehicle is in motion is done on rugged SSD with no moving parts. When the vehicle is parked, SafeStor automatically transfers all recorded video, audio and metadata to the larger capacity, removable HDD, thereby ensuring large capacity onboard storage with the highest reliability recording
According to Jeff Schillinger, the named inventor for this patent, “This patent is the result of our work with clients to help them achieve a combination of affordable, high-capacity, and reliable on-board storage. Safety Vision will continue to develop mobile safety technologies until the best resolution is achieved, resulting in innovative, patentable solutions.”
“We are confident that Safety Vision’s focus on video quality, combined with its exclusive rights to the SafeStor patented technology, will provide our customers with the most secure digital data onboard any vehicle,” said Bruce Smith, President and CEO of Safety Vision. “This patent is an important component of Safety Vision’s formidable product offering within our key verticals.”
